theforgottenfiles-deactivated20 asked: I wish you'd post more Victorian and before stuff...I mean retro is all very beautiful and amazing too, there just seems to be quite a bit? :)

I post what inspires me at the moment. I am sure I will get back into a pre-Victorian mood soon ;)

ohheygreat:

For Defunct Fashion, whose Tumblr is an endless source of beauty and joy to me.

One of four illustrations hanging in my bathroom (sorry for the iPhone photo - I can’t take it down and scan it, but I was too lazy to get out a camera - I will if there’s a request for it). My mom found them and selected four to buy for me as a gift.

From “Les Grandes Modèles.” Text reads:

Pour l’été ce manteau d’après-midi en rayonne noir; empiècement légèrement drapé. Manches courtes, réchaufées de renard.

The handwriting is only on this one. I believe it’s Russia

This is stunning. I absolutely love vintage fashion illustration. I want to own these! Thank you for sharing. And if you ever get a chance to take pictures of the other four I would love to share them.
